Smart Array 221 Controller
When booting with the drives plugged into the card, no scsi devices are detected. When the drives are connected to the motherboard, no drives are detected. I've updated all I can..not sure what's left to do. Any help??? Anyone??

Re: Smart Array 221 Controller
Usually there's a diagnostic error message indicating the problem. For no detected its 1785. In this case the resolution is to check the cabling and make sure the drives are properly attached.
Have you run the Array Configuration Utility?

Re: Smart Array 221 Controller
Hello,
Need some info & help on these:
I have a ML 370 (866Mhz probably Generation 1)
COMPAQ Smart Array 221 Controller (rev. A, V 4.48)
P17 COMPAQ System BIOS
=================
When I boot through, I have this similar kind of error message
1784 Slot x Drive Array Drive Failure. The
following SCSI drive(s) should be
replaced: SCSI port 1 SCSI ID 0
The answer is to
Check for loose cables. Replace defective
drive x and/or cable(s).
My real question is
1) I have checked the Cables, its a hot plug & play it works
2) The drive is probaly NEW 9.1GB 15K RPM (ULTRA 3).. but the controller is only ULTRA 2 I believe
3) The thing is it detects the hdd & says it as 1 Logical drive found
4) Should I fill in the rest with empty cady's
5) I tried inserting the hdd, into another slot, it said it detected changed configuration... so run ADU??
6) Another quick dump question, new to COMPAQ.. how to get into COMPAQ BIOS, SMART Controller 221's BIOS etc..
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance
