2 Simplivity federations with 2 vCenters Enhanced Linked mode vCenter
Hi all ,
We have a t a client 2 deployed Simplivity federations in each federation we have a vcenter.
vCenter A and B are linked using vCenter Enhanced Linked Mode.
Site A
vCenter A
4 SimpliVity nodes in Cluster A
OVCs reregistered to vCenter A
StoreOnce
Site B
vCenter B
4 SimpliVity nodes in Cluster B
OVCs reregistered to vCenter B.
StoreOnce
We have reinstalled the Simplivity plugins in each cluster
When logged on in vCenter A I'm not able to do any Simplivity actions on vm's in the vCenter B and Vice Versa
We also cannot use the other cluster as a backup destination .
What do we need to do:
1. to be able to use the simplivity actions on VM's in the other cluster
2. to be able to use the other cluster as a backup destination (including the StoreOnce)

Re: 2 Simplivity federations with 2 vCenters Enhanced Linked mode vCenter
Please let us know the plugin version installed
Please perform a vCenter update on each OVC one by one (which requires OVC reboot)
login to OVC
> sudo su
> source /var/tmp/build/bin/appsetup
dsv-update-vcenter --server vCenterIP --username administrator@vsphere.local

For Store once integration right click on simplvity cluster-All Simplivity Actions-register external store and add the store.
while performing backup you can get the options to backup to external store

Please follow from Page132 from CLI

Re: 2 Simplivity federations with 2 vCenters Enhanced Linked mode vCenter
Hi ,
Thanks for you reply,
This is something we have already done , if we point the total of 8 nodes to 1 vcenter then we have access to the Simplivity actions,
but then still we can’t make backups to the other federation/cluster or the storeonce located in the other cluster
If we connect to the other vcenter (where the nodes are NOT pointed to) then we don’t have any Simplivity actions

Re: 2 Simplivity federations with 2 vCenters Enhanced Linked mode vCenter
Hello All,
You will be able to backup to the cluster where storeonce is integrated.
we cannot backup to a different federation cluster from one federation.
Please try to restart rest services on each OVC from the simplivity action
systemctl status svt-rest
systemctl stop svt-rest
systemctl start svt-rest
If you are using vCenter 7.0U3c and 4.1.1 U1 version please use the plugin 4.1.1.12784 and if OVC is 410 U1 use 4.1.0.12781 plugin
