Re: Change domain, fqdn for vcenter and OVC
Hi Major88,
Good day.
Changing the FQDN of the vCenter on the DNS server, would mean, the SimpliVity hosts will also have to be updated with a certain command, so that the new info gets reflected.
As for the OVC itself, again, you can proceed with making the changes on the FQDN of the OVC on DNS, which should be ok.
You may also want to look at the DNS server IPs too, on both the vCenter and OVC, to be on a safer side and update it if need be.
However, there is always a risk of the FQDN changes or the IP changes on the vCenter, once its been configured, as even Vmware accepts, that if the right steps are not taken, then vCenter can be inaccessible as well.
https://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2019/08/changing-your-vcenter-servers-fqdn.html
I would suggest you reach out to the Broadcom team or HPE Vmware team to know the right steps on FQDN change process for the vCenter apart from just the DNS server, as-in where all it needs to be updated.
Once done, you can reach out to the SimpliVity support team, who can assist you with the commands as it may involve updating the certificates too on both ESXi and OVC.

Re: Query: Change domain, fqdn for vcenter and OVC
Hello,
Thanks for yours messages. I need to consult HPE Support team before to tell the client, that it is possible or not in his situation. Or maybe just add DNS zone to the new AD servers will be the best option.
Regards,
