Gen 9 and Gen 10 in the same federation? Is there any path to 7.0?
I've read the Omnistack interoperability guide for 4.1.0 as I was excited to finally see esxi 7.0 support. We still have our file cluster on our 3par and are looking to drop it from support. 7.0 supports cluster compatible VMDKs. However sadly HPE didn't release this last year so they dropped support for Gen9. I read that you can have different version between clusters (we have 4 gen9 clusters with small and mediums and 2 gen10 clusters with xls) but at the end it states:
Upgrade of the vCenter/VCSA to 7.0 requires that the entireshowbox federation must first be upgraded to 4.1.0 and committed.
So does this leave our federation stuck on 6.7?

Re: Gen 9 and Gen 10 in the same federation? Is there any path to 7.0?
Hello @SorimBela
This information is correct, as per the Interoperability Guide:
HPE SimpliVity 380 Gen9 systems are not supported with HPE OmniStack 4.1.0 or later. Clusters with HPE SimpliVity 380 Gen9 systems cannot be upgraded to 4.1.0 or later unless the HPE SimpliVity 380 Gen9 systems are removed or replaced with platforms supported by HPE OmniStack 4.1.0.
Unfortunately, they won't support vCenter 7.0.
Thanks,

Re: Gen 9 and Gen 10 in the same federation? Is there any path to 7.0?
Gen9 does not support Simplivity software version 4.1.0 so i doubt vCenter/VCSA 7.0 will work.
which answers your query,
