HPE Management Virtual Appliance (MVA)

Hello

As I was trying to instal the MVA for the first time, on my Simplivity Cluster with four nodes and the output error message was "Failed to create the MVA datastore" and after this I cannot run again the setup. I procede with a host by host restart and even the VCenter server but without sucess, after this I reinstaled the Simplivity Plugin to version 4.2.0.32, the Vcenter is current in version 6.7 as the host.

How can I resolve this error?

Hi,

You may follow the instructions from Admin guide (Page 125): https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=a00131388en_us

To restart, delete the MVA backup policy and any datastore created for MVA.

In case you have upgraded the OVC recently, then you may have to upload the MVA tar file of the same version as OVC in /mva/deploy folder of each OVC in the cluster where MVA will be deployed. You can check for the same if the MVA file is present or not.

Re: HPE Management Virtual Appliance (MVA)

Hi Staples02,

I understand that you are getting an error when deploying an MVA.

  • Make sure that you have copied the correct cluster ID also
  • Make sure that only one datastore is created.

Before re-attempting the installation of MVA, double-check the steps mentioned below:

  • Log into all OVCs, elevate to root, and check the /mva/deploy folder.
This folder must contain the MVA ISO and it should be on every OVC. There are also yaml files in this folder.
To elevate to root after you've logged in to the OVC, simply type "sudo su" and then "source /var/tmp/build/bin/appsetup".
  • It is important when entering the configuration values that the Network name matches the name of the Management network of the OVC.
The OVC management network is by default named "VM Network" but if this port group name has been changed then use the current name instead.

After checking this try deleting the MVAs from disk and re-attempt the deployment of the MVA.

You may refer the below video links which explains about the Pre-requisites and how to configure a new MVA:

Hope this helps.

Sanika.
