Mixed OVC Versions in Federation

We recently upgraded our Lenovo SimpliVity 2 node cluster to 2 DL380 G10 nodes in a 2 node cluster.

Im thinking of having on of our old Lenovo's as a DR node but as they can only go to version 3.7.10 can I have my G10's at 4.1.0 and a DR at 3.7.10 or would this be incompatable and not work?

Thanks in advance

Re: Mixed OVC Versions in Federation

Hello @kane13 ,

We do support mixed versions but some conditions must be met. If your federation is not running 3.7.10 at the moment then you won't be able to deploy new ones at this version. Based on the interoperability guide:

Deployment:

•New cluster deployments in federations running 3.7.10/3.7.10A and earlier must match the version running in the rest of the federation.  --->> Seems not to be your case as you only have 4.1.0.

•Beginning in 3.7.10 U1, new cluster deployments must match the version of at least one other cluster in the federation. -----> can't do this as you don't have any other clusters running 3.7.10 U1 if I understood correctly.

More info here (page 37):

Basically, you can't deploy a node with a lower version of software than what the rest of the SImplivity federation is running.

Hope it helps.
