This guides are for previous versions. there is nothing about "Dual disk resiliency" and raid levels.

Re: Query: OmniStack 4.1.2 Dual disk resiliency

In the "HPE OmniStack 4.1.2 for vSphere Release Notes"

"The Deployment Manager is upgraded to enable dual disk resiliency selection when available. You can select disk resiliency to allow Software Optimized platforms to sustain dual disk failures within the same disk group, which is a key difference between Software Optimized and Hardware Accelerated HPE SimpliVity platforms. The functionality also allows for existing deployments with single disk resiliency to be able to upgrade to dual disk resiliency by way of redeployment (no in place upgrade for existing data)."

Let's look at the statement "You can select disk resiliency to allow Software Optimized platforms to sustain dual disk failures within the same disk group, which is a key difference between Software Optimized and Hardware Accelerated HPE SimpliVity platforms."  Before you were able to lose one disk in a disk group. Now you can lose two. As I understand, you can upgrade an existing single disk to dual disk by redeploying. SimpliVity is able to do that partly because of moving to the software based Acceleration from the hardware TIA card.

Re: Query: OmniStack 4.1.2 Dual disk resiliency

It's provided through RAID6 and RAID 10ADM for 380G x6, x12 and x16 nodes (not x8). Implemented at deployment only, is optional and recommended for scenarios that would be more vulnerable to extended break/fix times i.e. dark sites, ships, rigs etc.

Re: Query: OmniStack 4.1.2 Dual disk resiliency

Hi Gogalai,

Please refer page no. 28-29 in the below 4.1.2 Deployment Guide which provides you more information on Dual Disk Resiliency and SimpliVity models which supports Dual Disk Resiliency:

https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-a00123772en_us.

As informed earlier, the type of RAID configured are combination of RAID10ADM & RAID6.

Tier1 - RAID10ADM

Tier2 - RAID6

Thanks & Regards
