Simplivity HPE 325 - Ping drops

Hi!

I am trying to deploy Simplivity on our two 325 Gen10 Plus v2 Node.

One HPE Aruba Instant On 1960 12XGT on each location.
Port 16 SFP 10 GB is connecting the two switches with a fiber.
Port 13 SFP and 14 SFP (10 GB) on each switch connecting to SFP ports on servers. For Storage and Federation.
Port 2 and 3 RJ45 (1 GB) on each switch connecting to RJ45 ports on servers.
ILO is also connected to each Instant On 1960 12XGT.

And of course firewall and other switches on the network.

When I boot up the server to Deploy, it gets assigned two IP-addresses on each server. One for each RJ45.
For example
Server 1 gets 192.168.10.10 and 192.168.10.11
Server 2 get 192.168.10.12 and 192.168.10.13

The problem is when I start the Pre Install check, it fails on different steps all the time.

When I ping each of the IP-addresses I sometimes gets request time out.
Different everytime, sometimes 20 ping and then 1-3 drops, sometimes four pings and 1-3 drop.
Sometimes it works fine for 40 ping.
Just random.

Everything works fine on the rest of the network.
It works fine to ping ILO, some servers, the gateway and so on.

Then I read this.

HPE Aruba Networking switch best practices
Minimum requirements:
Use two supported HPE Aruba Networking switches when deploying hosts. You cannot use a single switch.

But I have only one switch at each location, for each server.
Has anyone experienced this?
Is it really mandatory to have two switches for each server?

Re: Simplivity HPE 325 - Ping drops

Hi @PatrikB

Yes, HPE strongly recommends using two HPE Aruba switches per server to ensure high availability and fault tolerance. It is not recommended to use single switch for production environments due to the lack of redundancy.

You can refer to the HPE SimpliVity Deploymemt guide for more information on this:
