Re: Unable to provisioning disk type think on datastore
semaphore,
It is not possible to create thick provisioned vmdk files on SimpliVity storage. Thin provisioned storage results from attempts to create thick provisioned disks, as you have noted.
It is known that some configurations that require thick provisioning, such as quorum or shared disks in a Microsoft Failover Cluster, will pass Microsoft validation despite being thin provisioned, and is supported by Microsoft.
May I ask what the use case is for this configuration?

Re: Unable to provisioning disk type think on datastore
For example, to share disk between guest vm where vmware specifies that disk must be thick . Or maybe create guest for database which will use thick for better performance.
thank you

Re: Unable to provisioning disk type think on datastore
Guest VMs that utilize shared disk technologies, such as Microsoft Server Failover Cluster and Microsoft SQL Server Always On, are supported by SimpliVity and Microsoft, despite having the storage provisioned as thin.
Here are reference documents for these technologies from HPE:
Microsoft Server Failover Cluster on HPE SimpliVity - https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a50000833enw
Microsoft SQL Server Always On with HPE SimpliVity - https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00053626enw
Performance of Database applications on SimpliVity would be determined prior to the workload being 'sized' for use on SimpliVity with the knowledge that the underlying storage is not thick provisioned.
Here is a reference document on the use of Microsoft SQL Server on HPE SimpliVity:
HPE Reference Architecture for Microsoft SQL Server 2017 on HPE SimpliVity 380 - https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00072695enw
I hope this guidance is useful in your implementation.
