Any risks in adding a new Uplink Set in OneView 8.1

Hi

Are there any associated risks with adding a new Uplink set to a production Synergy environment? Much like on previous versions of OneView, when even adding a new Network required the LI to over-write the entire configuration (this is no longer the case, I know), but should adding a new Uplink Set be completed within a maintenance window with OV 8.x or is it acceptable to undertake during normal hours?

kind regards

Re: Any risks in adding a new Uplink Set in OneView 8.1

Just like any other solutoin where you can perform "online changes", there is always a risk. Adding an Uplink Set to a Logical Interconnect by just itself should not create an outage.  Prior OneView releases and Virtual Connect firmware could reconfigure uplink ports, causing a brief outage.  This typically has been related to re-naming or changing uplink set names along with adding/removing networks or ports.  This was addressed back in the 5.x and 6.x OneView releases.

Additionally, if you haven't configured the adjacent switch ports with the needed VLANs, and you do have servers configured with them, you would cause those new networks to be inaccessible from the core infrastructure.
