HI
I just setup HP synergy 12000 frame but no uplink ports for now. Now we will be putting this to test and I am just wondering when I assign uplink ports can I assign Q1 port or it has to be Q1:1 Q1:2 and so ON. I know that I have to choose at least one from each interconnect but can ports Q1 can be added or Q1:1 should be added and . THis will be used for Vmware ESXi so usually we add 8 network cards so even withoug choosing Q1 we have enough for each network card to have at least 2 ports (each uplink
SYN_01, interconnect 3 Q1 Ethernet + FCoE SYN_01, interconnect 3 Q1:1 Ethernet + FCoE SYN_01, interconnect 3 Q1:2 Ethernet + FCoE SYN_01, interconnect 3 Q1:3 Ethernet + FCoE SYN_01, interconnect 3 Q1:4 Ethernet + FCoE SYN_01, interconnect 3 Q2 Ethernet + FCoE

Re: HP SYnergy 12000 Frame uplink ports allocation
It will depend on what link speed you need to connect ot the adjacent switching infrastructure. The parent port here, like Q1 will only be able to connect via 100Gb or 50Gb, as shown:
The child ports, like Q1:1, will only be able to connect via 10Gb or 25Gb

SolutionHI
Thanks for this information. I just realized that if i pick up Q1 i can connect at 100 GB but that will consume all child ports. I am using this for vmware so basically if i use this for iSCSI and then for the rest i can use Q2 and child ports
THanks a lot for this insight
