Hi Community,
Does anybody know or have any proof that HPE Alletra 6000 Series supports FLAT SAN with Synergy VC SE 100Gb F32?
Thank you

SolutionHewlett Packard Enterprise SPOCK web site is where we officially document which configs support direct connect
On the left-hand navigation, look for Virtual Connect
https://h20272.www2.hpe.com/SPOCK/Pages/spock2Html.aspx?htmlFile=hw_virtual_connect.html
Inside each document will call out which configs support direct connect. Search for "Flat" If it is not mentioned, it is not supported.

Re: HPE Alletra Flat SAN?
Thank you,
So the Alletra does not support FLAT SAN at this point of time for the following solution:
HPE Virtual Connect SE 100Gb F32 FC and FCoE Connectivity Stream for Synergy HPE Composer 6.x
HPE Fibre Channel Storage Arrays
HPE Alletra 6000/9000
HPE Primera 600
XP7/8 MSA G4 P9500
3PAR StoreServ 7000/8000/9000/10000/20000
Nimble Series: AF, CS, HF, SF
Note: Fibre channel arrays require connection thru an external fabric switch

Re: HPE Alletra Flat SAN?
This is incorrect now right? The very next page of that same doc lists FLAT SAN support for Alletra 6k.

Re: HPE Alletra Flat SAN?
Perhaps the formatting is confusing. Note the specific firmware bundle headings "HPE Synergy Service Pack SSP 2022.11.01" verses "2022.08.01" on the following page (the former is on a prior page, the latter on the next page after your image).

Re: HPE Alletra Flat SAN?
Seems both are true. The documentation is misleading, and the conclusion on this thread is also incorrect. Alettra 6000 does support direct connect with VC F32 100Gb Synergy modules, though with an important caveat.

Re: HPE Alletra Flat SAN?
Good day
Thougth I should use this thread as my question is somewhat related.
With Alletra 6000 and VC F32 100Gb Synergy modules, how would you connect the 2 MPO cables between the Alletra and the Synergy VC for flat SAN.
For me there are 2 options
1. MPO cable all 4 ports on Alletra controller A to VC Bay3 and 2nd MPO cable all 4 ports on Alletra controller B to VC Bay 6
2. Or, MPO cable 2 ports on Alletra controller A and 2 ports on Alletra controller B to VC Bay3 and 2nd MPO cable 2 ports on Alletra controller A and 2 ports on Alletra controller B to VC Bay6 (criss cross)
Does anyone know what is the best practise perhaps?
Thanks

Re: HPE Alletra Flat SAN?
You cannot use an MPO QSFP / MPO cables for the reason explained below. You need to use QSFP 845970-B21 adapter with SFP28 P9H30A transceiver and fiber OM4 LC/LC patch cables:
