HPE Synergy 12000 frame cannot create logical drive or JBOD

HI 

I have recently acquired HPE Synergy 12000 frame and set it up all is ok however cannot create JBOD or logical drive to boot from.

Storage is DS3940 and it clearly shows up in ONeview as powered on and connected however it says 

Drive type no drives available for zoning check the drive enclosures page for details. When i do that everything is there and I have 2 SSD disks 64 TB and I was planning to make them in Raid 1 and use to boot but no matter what it wont see the disks

I also do have question whether I can create logical drive from HPE DS3940 storage module and boot from there or it has to be block storage likee iSCSI. I was wondering if booting for example ESXi can be done from this internal storage

Did you navigate to the Drive Enclosure page and select (or scroll to) the Drives section?

It would show if there were alerady existing assignments of drives to Logical JBOD and/or Server Profiles.

Also... if you believe these drives should all be unused, it can't hurt to execute a Hard Reset of each of the SAS ICMs.

Outside of a server profile, test if you can Create Logical JBOD.

When you attempt to Create Logical JBOD, are you selecting drive by Drive type, Size and technology, or Specific drives?

Try Specific drives  (it eliminates other variables) and see if a list of drives are offered.

Also, did you create a Logical Enclosure? Drive storage won't be available to create a Logical Disk or JBOD until then.

Also, the D3940 storage is block via SAS internal to the frame only. Any other storage protocol will require a software stack to be installed and Logical Drive/JBOD assigned to for eventual storage access.
