HP synergy 12000 frame
Hi
I have completed configuration and installation of Synergy 12000 2 enclosures and it is quite easy to set it up OneView does great job with that
I also have DS3940 module and for some environments we would like to setup shared disks (datastores) for esxi hosts
HOwever One view cannot do that. I heard that HP used to promote VSA appliance but this is EOL now and just wondering what is alternative. Some people say use TrueNAS any other software that would serve that purpose
Also for Synergy experts not sure if 2 DS3940 in different enclosures are reduntant for example RAID 1 would pull 2 disks but not sure if i can put 1 disk from one enclosure and one disk from another or DS3940 is tied to one enclosure

Re: HP synergy 12000 frame
The only "shared" part of the D3940 solution is the drive enclosure and SAS fabric. Each drive must be assigned to an individual server. We do not support multi-zoning drives across multiple hosts within the same frame. If you intend to share the drive storage, you either need to use something like VMware vSAN, Microsoft Windows Storage Spaces, or some other IP-based storage solution.
