HPE Synergy 20Gb Interconnect Link Module replacement

Hi !

I need to replace bad Synergy 20Gb Interconnect Link Module in 3 frame logical enclosure.

Firmware of bad module is 1.18
Firmware of spare module is 1.08

I also have a separate Synergy frame for testing purposes.

I think, i need to upgrade spare module before replacing.

I know that if the master module is raplacing (for example VC 40Gb) i can insert spare VC 40Gb into a free slot, create a new LIG and add it to the EG, perform an update from group. After that I will be able to update spare VC 40Gb and replace the bad one.

But I don't know how to update the firmware for the satellite module. It cannot be added to the frame configuration standalone.

Or the satellite modules dont require a similar microcode before replacement? and I can just replace the faulty module and then do the fimware upgrade for LE?

No need for a special process.  Yes, replace the ILM and update firmware.  It's actually the VC modules that talk to them to update their firmware.
