Question about Synergy Composer/compute modules upgrade path
Hello HPE Synergy,
What is the best route for me to take on upgrading our Composer 6.0 to the recommended Milestone version Composer 6.3? We currently have some compute modules running on SSP SY-2020.07.03 and SY-2021.01.03.
- Upgrade our Composer 6.0 to 6.3 > upgrade the shared infrastructure with SSP 2021.11.01 > update the compute modules last.
- If we have some compute moduels running on SY-2020.07.03 and that is not supported by Composer 6.3, would that have any effect on the management of the compute modules?
- Update the compute modules to a supported version of SSP 2021.05.03 > upgrade Composer to Composer 6.3 > upgrade shared infrastructure > update the compute modules to the most recent version of 2021.11.01

Re: Question about Synergy Composer/compute modules upgrade path
#2 is the winner for known-tested path. You can take a risk, which is low to moderate with #1.
Separate issue: there are some advisories worth reviewing (especially if you go to 2021.05.XX), for example: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-a00118373en_us
So if that applies to your computes, consider passing through 2021.02.XX instead.

Also take into consideration if it is a small environment that can schedule a complete shutdown, you can skip the intermediary infrastructure and compute updates and save time, as long as they all get updated (and are still running supported OS versions and drivers) when they get returned to service.
