HPE VM Essentials, Problem during Morpheus install

After the initial installation of Ubuntu 22.04, performing the (HWE) package Install, and installing the hpe-vm.deb. I ran the hpe-vm tool and created a bonded interface with 4 network interfaces I have available.

The next step in the installation is to Install Morpheus. The installation stalls at 93% when the installer is unable to access the internet. After some investigating, I found that the installer is attempting to use a virtual interface created for KVM, unfortunately the interface is not connected to any physical network.

I've been looking for a way to either bridge the bonded network or have the installer use the bonded interface. Any suggestions?

Check my welcome message - there's a link to the HPE VM Essentials Software Documention. If you don't have that, I'd highly recommended looking it over.

I've also seen a lot of conversation on an internal HPE Slack about "hanging at 93%". A few people have said that the last 7% takes a long time so check it to be sure it is hung.  If it really is stuck, look in /var/log/hpe-vme on the cluster node, the tail end of the log file tells the tale.  If it really is hung, you might have something in the log that tells you why.

Here are a more complete list of steps I see recommended:

  1. execute "virsh list" and check if the  management VM is running. If not, then check the syslog and see what is the error.. The best option to start troubleshoot  such issue with "kvm-ok" command option.
  2. If the VM is accessible ( ping the VM's hostname or IP ). If not accessible , then cancel the installation process, and check and fix  the network configuration part and restart after cleaning it.
  3. If the VM is accessible, then you may login to the VM and execute "morpheus-ctl status" command to monitor if all the services have started.

Re: HPE VM Essentials, Problem during Morpheus install

Thank you. The link you provided was one of the first Items I saw and was following once I found this forum.

Given the number abount of time I had spent building, channging, and adding thisgs to the system, I started again from Scratch.

I rebuilt the system from OS again, the last pice I had to change was the "Management Interface:" to "mgmt". It took a while but was worth it, the morpheus install completed and am now at the next step.

Glad to hear it - let us know how it goes. I just posted an article on LinkedIn that has a ton of things listed (videos that show the step-by-step process probably one of the better ones if you get stuck).  https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/essentials-hpe-vm-calvin-zito-2nalc
