With a default Sept.2008 11.31 installation, from what I understand EMS is still king of the hill and acts as the monitoring agent, while SFM only relays it to the CMS using the EMS wrapper.
Is there any reason to switch to SFM? I assume that since HP left EMS by default, there must be a reason or another.
Thanks

Solution
SFM will replace EMS eventually. For 11.31 it will no longer even be shipped as part of the media for 11.31 later this year
If you are planning on using RSP you will need to run in SFM mode since all events are reported through WBEM.
Yes, there is a EMS wrapper to give you the same message layout your use to seeing.
You can also configure SFM for mail alerts. You'll need to look at the FSM administraion guide for detail on how to configure this.
