Replacing new cpu fans on rx2600

Hi,
I was asked to replace cpu fans on two rx2600 running HP-UX 11iv2. The first one was on CPU 0 and the other was on CPU 1. When it did an "SS" under MP the CPU which the fan was replaced would not configure. The rx2600 with CPU 0 not configured, of course, would not boot. The actual "SS" output is "Processor 0: Installed and NOT CONFIGURED". Is there something else I need to do? I tried "cpuconfig 1 on" under EFI for the rx2600 with CPU 1 not configured, but it did not work.

Thanks...Rick

Re: Replacing new cpu fans on rx2600

Did you restart the system?

This is the usage:

> help cpuconfig
Deconfigure or reconfigure cpus

CPUCONFIG [module [on|off]]
CPUCONFIG [threads [on|off]]
CPUCONFIG [pstates [on|off]]

module : Specifies which cpu module to configure
threads : Use to display info or configure threads
pstates : Use to display info or configure Power/Performance States (P-states)
on : Specifies to reconfigure a cpu module, cpu threads, or enable
P-states
off : Specifies to deconfigure a cpu module, cpu threads, or disable
P-states

Note:
1. Cpu status will not change until next boot.
2. Specifying a cpu number without a state will display
configuration status.

Examples:
* To deconfigure CPU 0
fs0:\> cpuconfig 0 off
Cpu will be deconfigured on the next boot.

Press ENTER to continue, 'q' to exit:
* To display configuration status of cpus

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Replacing new cpu fans on rx2600

I did try the cpuconfig command on the rx2600 that cpu 1 was not configured. I can't get to the EFI from the rx2600 that cpu 0 is not configured.
I will try it again...

Re: Replacing new cpu fans on rx2600

I did a cpuconfig 1 off, rebooted cpu 1 was deconfigured. I went into EFI and ran cpuconfig 1 on, ran info cpu, the processor state was "Sched Reconf". Rebooted, pulled the power cable out cpu 1 is still not configured.

Anything I forgot?

Re: Replacing new cpu fans on rx2600

Some pseudo-random questions:

Any chance that whatever called for replacing the fans on the CPUs also led to the CPUs getting too toasty and so are failed?

All the connectors connected again?

Might want to troll the chassis etc logs for entries...
