hpcmpmgr.exe

Believe this program (hpcmpmgr.exe) is popping up a little window every 15 minutes to check for HP updates. Window disappears before you can read what it is. At least when we use msconfig to stop it the windows stop.

BleepingComputer says:
"Checks the internet for updated drivers/utilities for your HP product - update manually. Disabling will remove the error "Windows can't shutdown the computer because hpcmpmgr.exe can't be ended""

Possibly works in conjunction with HPWuSchd2.exe.

Is there a way to set the update schedule to once a day or just at boot? Seems really stupid to check every 15 minutes and it scares the customers who don't know what it is and can only think spyware is calling home.

Re: hpcmpmgr.exe

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted.

Came through the hurricane season with just two sections of the fence knocked down. Wilma was a wimp compared to last year's Frances and Jeanne. Both of them knocked the whole fence down and Frances ate our pool enclosure. We were without power for about a total of 20 days last year. Wilma didn't even knock the power out where I live even with gusts up to 94 mph but down in Miami where I work it was a different story. No power and worst of all no traffic lights and no gas stations. Utter chaos on the roads and SIX HOUR waits for gas. Luckily I could fill up and drive down there and ride around all week and get back on a single tank. Made one run down there (3.5 hours) carrying 4 full 5 gallon tanks for my sister-in-law's generator.

I'm hanging out on the dell hijackthis forum:
http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=si_hijack
so send any hijackthis logs over there and tell them to put RON in the subject line and I will fix them right up.
