Maximized IE hides some buttons

After I visited some web page with advertise page, my IE can't work when maximized.
It appear not on top left side of screen so Incon button, Maximize button and Close button on top right corner are not visible and obviously I can't see right size of web page.
I search into registry without success.

Re: Maximized IE hides some buttons

HI Antonio,
Do you mean this happens when you maximize the screen, or that you can not maximize it because you can not see the buttons?

If so you can also maximize it by richtclicking the top bar and choose maximize. If you do not see the bar either, hiet ALT+Space and choose maximize (if you can not see this either hit 2 arrow up and then enter after you hit ALT+SPACE.

If this happens when you maximize try to delete cookies and temp internet files, if you need more help, just ask,

Have a nice day,
Regards, Ronald

Hi Ronald,
thank you for quick response.

Yes I do. After I maximized windows, right side of windows with 3 buttons on top right corner are out of screen.

Now I try to do it.

Re: Maximized IE hides some buttons

You might also want to check your refresh rate, and see it it is "pushing" the menu off of your screen.

Right-click on your desktop, select properties, settings Tab, Advanced button, Monitor Tab - try setting the refresh rate somewhere between 70-80 (whatever the dropdown allows).

Jon,
all other windows (of other application) still work fine. Trouble started during navigation on web.

Vibor,
F11 doesn't work.

Re: Maximized IE hides some buttons

HI Antonio,
the next thing I can think of that the site you visited got some kind of spyware on you computer.
What version of windows are you running? Did IE asked yo to install something when you were on the site?

A spywarescan is the best next option, do you run any antispyware programs? MS Antispayware is pretty good to prevent most spyware to enter your pc and it also gards it realtime.

If MS antispyware has run and corrected any found spyware, try again. If still no luck, post a Hijackthis log here:

Re: Maximized IE hides some buttons

Ronald,
thank you for links, they are very interesting. I also thought to a spyware but there is no network activity (netstat) and there is no new active process.
The PC with trouble is an old machine with Window95 and IE V5.0; i don't want to change any because lives just for some light task.

Re: Maximized IE hides some buttons

Antionio,
That is a while back, win95, hmmm if I remember correctly you can reset IE settings, but I'm not sure if that was only possibel in win98.

Go to START->settings->controll panel
Open software and look for IE, select it and click on change/remove, then you have a few options, try to repair or go to previous version.

This is while back, so I hope my memory serves me right,

Re: Maximized IE hides some buttons

Ronald,
it didn't work for me.
Start->Setting->ControlPanel->Software. Select IE, change, restore default values.
Rebooted PC.

Thank you again.

Re: Maximized IE hides some buttons

Hi Antonio,

When you said that the button are not visible - out of screen after it being maximized, it clearly indicates that the issue is related to the display settings of the monitor, have you tried changing the display setting (Screen size horizontal and vertical setting) with the help of the menu buttons available infront of the monitor.
Could you please give me the model number of the monitor so that we can try to find out the display settings. Also try adjusting the screen resolution.

1. Right click on the desktop.
2. Click on Settings and reduce the screen area and click Apply >> Ok and check.

Re: Maximized IE hides some buttons

HI Antonio,
the previous version option was not availebel? or didn't you tried it?
Before doing so, try to loceate ie5setup.exe on your pc and backup it, then you can reinstall it if MS still has it on theire site, could not find the win95 version when I looked on the download site.

What I also wonder is, if you put your resolution to maximum, do you see more of page you are viewing Is the page screen beginning in the top left corner?

Personaly I doubt it is a driver problem, because then other programs should also have full ccreen problems.

To exclude the possiblity that another program causes this, try to close all application in taskmanger exept systray and explorer. (hit CTRL+ALT+DEL, do not hit twice, select task and choose end task)

Keep us posted, I'm running out of ideas (LOL) so hope I get some more inpiration, or but better is you get it fixed.

Have a nice day,

Ronald,
I tryed your hint but it didn't work. I know I could reinstall ie but this PC is old and I think it's better leave as is now.
I can even use ie so trouble is limited. I'm just corious how this is possible.

Re: Maximized IE hides some buttons

Trouble is not on IE but it a VGA driver. It's weird all other applications still work without any trouble. However, I simply changed resfresh rate and now IE works fine.
I've got no time to understand how this old PC works, I'm like it works.
