Outlook 2000 and DSL

Our company is using DSL with Outlook 2000. There is no exchange server. We are no longer able to reply to or forward messages. We can however, compose new messages and send them quickly. No settings have changed. We use DHCP and get our IP numbers from Our DSL carrier and router. We get a server error relating to our ISP TCP/IP number. What is the differnce between sending a new message out of the DSL connection and replying or forwarding a message to the DSL?

Re: Outlook 2000 and DSL

I have looked through the properties of my email account and I found no difference between new mails and answering or forewarding. One thing however you could try. There is a time out for the server in the properties of the account. Increase it. Can you ping the address?

I would check with the ISP, and see if anything has changed recently with their SMTP servers.

Re: Outlook 2000 and DSL

If you can get into the router settings, the MTU will need to be set somewhere between 1372 and 1392 for most routers. It is a common problem with email problems.
If at first you don't succeed, you must be installing Windows

Michael,

Thank you. That is what it was. Someone accidently changed the settings on the router. Points have been submitted.
