How to configure TP-Link N Router as an Access Point
This tutorial is based on the fact that you already have a router and you want the TP-Link router to extend the range of your wireless network through a LAN cable. We do not need a WAN port on the router in this network.
Step 1
Connect to main router via LAN port via Ethernet cable
Step 2
Connect your computer to another LAN port via Ethernet cable, then log on to the web interface via the IP address.
Step 3
Go to Network -> LAN on the left menu, change the LAN IP address of the TP-Link router to the same network layer as the primary router. (For example, if your primary router has an address of 192.168.2.1, your TP-Link router must have an address of 192.168.2.X (1 <X <254)).
Then the system requires you to reboot the device. Please click OK to reboot, then login to the router with the new IP.
Step 4
Wireless configuration
Go to Wireless -> Wireless Settings , configure SSID (Network Name) and Channel (If you are a dual band device, you must select the frequency band). Click the Save button
Go to the Wireless -> Wireless Security page , configure wireless security. Recommended WPA-PSA / AES. PSK Password is your wireless network password
Step 5
Go to the DHCP menu on the left, disable DHCP Server and click the Save button
Step 6
Go to System Tools -> Reboot, then click the Reboot button to reboot the device.
Follow the instructions above. Your computer can connect to the Internet through any LAN port. At the same time, you can also access wireless via SSIDs and passwords (see FAQ )

Re: How to configure TP-Link N Router as an Access Point
Will the same steps will work for dlink router ? Since both of the router use same ip address 192.168.1.1 to login into the router admin settings . I think they will work for evey router working on 192.168.1.1.
what do you say ?

Re: How to configure TP-Link N Router as an Access Point
Most of the times the login ip of the router varies from router to router. Some of them use 10.0.0.1 as the default login address while some use 10.0.1.1 IP as the login address. If your router uses 10.0.1.1 as the default login address then read this article on how to access router 10.0.1.1
