HP Procurve 2160-24 Bottlenecking speed to 100Mbps

Hi Guys,

Was wondering if you might be able to help me. We recently changed Internet Service Providers and have upped our service from 100Mbps up and download to 200Mbps up and download and it seems that our HP Procurve 2160-24 switch is bottlenecking the speed that is being distributed to our office to 100Mbps. We have plugged a laptop straight into the new Cisco router that was provided to us and it held steady at 200Mbps up and down and that then goes into the switch and across our network so it must be something that is happening at the switch's point. Is there a way of checking if some kind of limiter has been put on the switch or if this model is able to handle gigabit speeds (I thought it did?)

Cheers,

Ben

Hi,

Please share your Switch Part No. Believe the switch support 10/100 Mbps. Not 10/100/1000.

Thanks & Regards,

Shiju

Hi Shiju,

The switch is an HP Procurve 2610-24 with a serial code thing of J9085A.

I have included a couple of pictures below of the device, it has some codes on the front of it for different light patterns that indicate that it can handle 1000Mbps but I'm not sure why it wouldn't just automatically let those speeds through if so.

Hi,

Here is the datsheet of mentioned Part No. It only support 10/100. Last two port support 10/100/1000.
