msm720 vlan assignment
hi all,
my situation:
vlan 18 ssid user
vlan 19 ssid guest
vlan 20 managment
i have one dhcp server on vlan 1 that release ip address on subnet 18 & 19
connect internet port tagged on vlan 18&19 and untagged on vlan 20
i reach the access-point on vlan 20 correctly.
when i connect my client wi-fi on ssid 18 or 19, i don't reach the dhcp server and can not take the ip address!
why?
any idea?
thanks

Re: msm720 vlan assignment
Hi
Without knowing more of your configuration it's not really possible to answer the question fully. On top of my head - did you configure DHCP relay?

Re: msm720 vlan assignment
i configure
ip interface --> network profile --> vlan
interface vlan 18
interface vlan 19
internet interface on vlan id 20
vsc binding egress
then create user in user account profile
i don't configure dhcp relay agent

Re: msm720 vlan assignment
Hi
If your DHCP server is on VLAN 1 but it's serving IP addresses for VLANs 18 and 19 as well, you will need to use DHCP Relay agent. Otherwise the controller doesn't understand to send the DHCP requests to these VLANs.

Re: msm720 vlan assignment
hi,
i use dhcp relay agent, but dhcp don't release ip address.
i must check client data tunnel and Extend VSC egress subnet to VSC ingress subnet, but in this way dhcp server release always ip address with vlan 18 although connect on vsc binding on vlan 19.
i configure also, permanent route on dhcp server to controller, but no results.
attach the netwrok scheme

Re: msm720 vlan assignment
Hi
"i don't configure dhcp relay agent"... "i use dhcp relay agent"?
The manual is slightly inaccurate. To use an external DHCP server you do not need to extend the VSCs, you just need to enable DHCP relay. If you're not certain what this option is intended for, I'd advise not to use it.
It seems clear that there's some kind of misconfiguration, and this seems to be a new network. I'd suggest that you pick up the Implemetation Guide http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02682324/c02682324.pdf and check the 5 implementations available in there. It's a big book, but you only need to read the first few pages of each implementation to know what they are intended for. Pick from there an implementation that's closest to your specific needs and configure that, and you will have a working basic . Or alternatively use the Automated workflow to create your VSCs. Afterwards you can fine-tune the network according to your requirements.

Re: msm720 vlan assignment
hi Arimo,
i attach my last configuration.
in this setp, i configure dhcp-relay on controller.
please can you tell me if the scheme is correct?
my goal is to have vlan 18 & vlan 19 as guest vlan, assign ip address from external dhcp-server and the user must be authenticated by html-page.
thanks and good year!
bye,
Luca
