Re: MSM760/MSM422 - AP's looses connection.
This forum seems pretty dead.
But anyway, I downgraded to 6.0.2.0 and got over 700 users connected with not a single reboot.
I can't recommend upgrading to 6.2 nor 6.3 with MSM422 AP's connected.

Re: MSM760/MSM422 - AP's looses connection.
Hi,
Just register to this forum because of this problem!
I have had loads and loads of problem since 6.x.x version on my MSM765. Now using: 6.3.0.0-15824
We use msm422 and msm430 accesspoints.
-Clients having full signal strength but no access to the network.
-Clients gets kicked out from the 802.1x and the Webased (guest)-login.
-SSID's are somtimes just dissepering.
-Event logs on accesspoints just suddendly stop comming. My last is from 26 feb. (Do the "Events" on ap level work when teaming 2 MSM765.)
- Aceesspoints rebooting at least the controller events say so.
AP (name='CN37DWZ15W') is silent. It may still be providing services but is unmanaged. Reason: (value='Secure connection to AP went down') I use Layer 2 managemnet on all accessponits.
AP (name='SG007ZVX2N') is silent. It may still be providing services but is unmanaged. Reason: (value='Secure connection to AP went down')
I am about to downgrade to 6.0.2 or if the HP-Support team tell me to use other software.

Try with 6.4.1 or 6.5 which is more stable as per my experience.

Re: MSM760/MSM422 - AP's looses connection.
Hi there.
Running two MSM760 in team @FW 6.5.0.1-19720. Two SSID's one WPA2 and one open whit HTML and AD sign in.
Have so many entries in log that it is almost impossible to locate issue. However, I hear about these faults from clients:
-Clients having full signal strength but no access to the network.
-Clients are kicked out from the 802.1x and the Web based login.
-Mac book clients sometimes sign in, and is being redirected to sign in page repeatedly.
Actually, I had a controller reboot the other day.
Anyone else seeing this?
Kind regards.

Re: MSM760/MSM422 - AP's looses connection.
I'm running a very similar config.. two msm760's in a team on FW 6.5.0.1. I have a mix of 517's, 560's and msm460's. I had to upgrade to 6.5 to get the 560's working but now i'm stuck with this firmware. I have a case open with HP for the issue were seeing which seems similar to what you've got. Users are reporting an inability to connect to the network even though it is visible with high strength.
If i check the controller, it shows multiple connections to the AP but they are from days past. After a factory reset of the AP, the connection count goes back to zero and clients can connect again. The client count continues to increase but even if they disconnect from the AP, the controller still shows the same connection count... it never goes back down.
6.5.0.1 seems very buggy... hoepfully they're working on a new update that addresses some of the problems.

Re: MSM760/MSM422 - AP's looses connection.
Danny617 I have almost the same network design as you, except I have one 765zl controller running 6.4.1.0-17746 with 23 430/460s and 87 517s.
When we replaced our 422 fleet with 517's, the performace upgrade was great. We are a 1:1 high school with 1275 students using iPads and a 571 running in almost all classrooms. 430/460s are in common areas
517's are running 802.11n at 5GHz only. Bandwidth is great, when it works. But we are also starting to have 517 APs stop accepting clients. The SID is viewable, its just that no one can connect unless a reboot is performed on the AP.
It does not bode well if the 6.5 firmware upgrade does not address this issue.
Seems to be a firmware + controller problem.
We do not have this problem with 430 or 460s. Just

Re: MSM760/MSM422 - AP's looses connection.
A friendly MSM developer here...
It would be helpful if you could post AP system information of an AP that is currently experiencing the issue that you are describing.
On the controller, select the AP, go under Tools/Debugging tools and click download. Attach this file here (it is encrypted).
A wireless trace of a client trying to connect would be helpful as well (specify the MAC address of the client and of the AP).

Re: MSM760/MSM422 - AP's looses connection.
We seem to be having a very similar issue! MSM 760 with approx 70 APs (MSM422/MSM460).
See the following for some of the testing that we have done:
We also tried changing all of our APs to Static addresses, but this didn't seem to make any difference, except it added some more errors in our logs (see bottom two):
Mar 5 02:41:21 warning eventmgr EVENT[26814] AP (name='I01') is silent. It may still be providing services but is unmanaged. Reason: (value='Secure connection to AP went down')

Re: MSM760/MSM422 - AP's looses connection.
6.5 is more a feature update than a bugfix update. I'd suggest checking 6.4.2.1 Release Notes; there's a number of AP and client connectivity fixes which may not yet be present in 6.5 -branch.

Re: MSM760/MSM422 - AP's looses connection.
Hi, we experienced the same issue (AP goes Silent) with our MSM720 and MSM422 APs and after logging a call with HP Enterprise we were informed to upgrade to 6.5.3.0 in order to resolve this issue.
