Best Way to Monitor IOPS Per Pool on MSA 2062
I have an MSA 2062 SFF FC SAN with two storage pools:
Pool 1 (Controller A)
- 12 × 2.4TB 12G 10K SAS (Standard Tier)
- 2 × 1.92TB SSD (Performance Tier)
- Configured as RAID6
- Label: SAS_POOL_LUN
Pool 2 (Controller B)
- 7 × 3.84TB 12G SAS SSD (Performance Tier)
- Configured as RAID6
- Label: SSD_POOL_LUN
Performance Monitoring Query
In the dashboard, I can see total IOPS, Read + Write IOPS, latency, and throughput, but I couldn’t find a way to view IOPS details per pool or group-wise.
Is there any way to break down IOPS performance by pool? I’d like to analyze how much IOPS each pool is delivering to compare their performance effectively.
Open to Suggestions
Also, if you have any recommendations for improving my current storage setup, I’d love to hear them!
Thanks in advance!

Re: Best Way to Monitor IOPS Per Pool on MSA 2062
Hi,
For Pool A, the optimized data traffic path is through controller A host ports.
Similarly, For Pool B the optimized data traffic path is through controller B host ports.
Ensure that path selection policy is set to round-robin in host server operating system.
I see an option to view graph by selecting controller IOPS as well as host port IOPS.
I guess this should meet your requirement of monitoring Pool level latency and IOPS.
Its recommended to create standard tier RAID 5 or RAID 6 disk group by following power of 2 recommendations.
This provides optimal sequential write performance.
