HPE MSA Log Analysis

Hi everyone,
I have an HPE MSA 2060, and Controller B went down with the following error log:

"<PROPERTY name="additional-information" type="string"> A voltage sensor reported an alert condition. - A voltage sensor is outside a critical voltage threshold in the indicated FRU. - A voltage sensor is not able to communicate with the EMP.</PROPERTY> <PROPERTY name="recommended-action" type="string">-If A voltage sensor is outside a critical voltage threshold in the indicated FRU. - Check that all modules in the enclosure are fully seated in their slots and that their latches, if any, are locked. - If this does not resolve the issue, the indicated FRU has probably failed and should be replaced. - If the voltage sensor is not able to communicate with the EMP. - Wait for at least 10 minutes and check if the error resolves. - If the error persists, check that all modules in the enclosure are fully seated in their slots and that their latches, if any, are locked. - If this does not resolve the issue, note down the FRU. Ensure the partner FRU is not degraded. If the partner FRU is degraded, contact technical support. - For all FRU types except the enclosure, if the partner FRU is not degraded, remove and reinsert the indicated FRU. - If the indicated FRU is the enclosure, set up a preventive maintenance window and power cycle the enclosure at that time. - If this does not resolve the issue, the indicated FRU has probably failed and should be replaced.

<PROPERTY name="message" type="string">An Enclosure Management Processor (EMP) reported an alert condition on a voltage sensor. Type: fault. (enclosure: 1, WWN: 500C0FF0F76B3D3C) voltage sensor for Capacitor Cell 3 Voltage-Ctlr B, sensor status: N/A</PROPERTY>"

I’m having trouble understanding what exactly this means and how to proceed. Could anyone provide guidance on the issue and possible next steps?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: HPE MSA Log Analysis

Hi @Merany ,

As per the command outputs shared its the controller A which is down and not controller B.  Please issue the below command from SSH session of working controller B IP and check whether controller A comes up:

restart sc a

If issue persists, remove the controller A out by 1-2 inches from the chassis and reseat it.

If issue persists the controller A will require replacement.

You could log a support case right away if the unit is under warranty.
