Re: Cannot Access SAN MSA 2040 through Web Console

--> Clear all temporary files and cahe of the browser and try again

--> Try to use different Web browser

--> Try to use https to open the SMU page

--> Try to access to controllers through ssh

--> Try to connect serial cable and connect the controller. Then check if http, https and ssh protocols enabled or not

--> If You can access controllers through CLI then restart both management controllers together. This will not impact in your production.

Re: Cannot Access SAN MSA 2040 through Web Console

@Zuber1

Hi ,

Please open putty and ssh into either of the controller's management ip.

Use same credentials as you use for GUI.

enter the below command,

#restart mc a   or #restart mc b  or #restart mc both (depending on which controller's IP you use)

And then try to access the web console, please also try different browsers.IE is recommended.

Also you could try to reseat the ethernet cables on both the controllers.Lastly if it doesnt fix please take a dowtime and powercycle the unit and check.

if you still face issue please call support and log a ticket so we can assist you better!!

Hope this helps!

Thanks

Re: Cannot Access SAN MSA 2040 through Web Console

Dear SUBHAJIT,

I have tried below steps, but am getting error like 192.168.0.XXX refused to connect. I can see my one Controller A is down am getting request time out and no light is blinking on network port, Controller B I can able to ping but while trying to access it its showing error 192.168.0.XXX refused to connect.

If I want to connect it through console cable should I have to use SAN dedicated USB cable or I can use normal cable.

Clear all temporary files and cahe of the browser and try again

--> Try to use different Web browser

--> Try to use https to open the SMU page

--> Try to access to controllers through ssh

Re: Cannot Access SAN MSA 2040 through Web Console

Yes i tried both, its giving me error refused to connect.

Re: Cannot Access SAN MSA 2040 through Web Console

@Zuber1 ...yes you need to use Serial cable or USB cable. Please find the link to get all Serial cable part numbers MSA model wise,

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-a00047337en_us&docLocale=en_US

May be it's good to connect to Controller B  with Serial cable and then check both controller state.  Mainly check what are the management IP address set on both controllers because it's possible that for some reason IP gets changed. If required physically re-seat Controller A to make it up as well.

You can also this below Customer Advisory,

Hope this helps!

Re: Cannot Access SAN MSA 2040 through Web Console

Hi,

Follow linkhttps://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-a00022365en_us .Its applicable for MSA 2040 also.

Physically to shut down the sequence is hosts (disconnecting host connections to MSA)>MSA controllers (unplug the power cords)>disk enclosures(power button on the rear end)

In between each step please make sure all drives are completely spun down and there is no LEd.Then proceed to disk enclosures and follow the same.

The power on will be in the reverse order.

Re: Cannot Access SAN MSA 2040 through Web Console

No it wouldnt affect production.the cable is connect so that you can access Web GUI.Removing it would only make you not access the web console.

Re: Cannot Access SAN MSA 2040 through Web Console

Dear Subhajit,

I manage to get the cable, i have connected cable from Controller B to my laptop, am giving the password in putty console its not taking. the password i use to access my SAN though Web Console.

if i connect CLI cable to controller A, its not detecting in my pc.

Re: Cannot Access SAN MSA 2040 through Web Console

Then better to stop Host IO and go for full power cycle of the MSA.

After power down of the MSA better to remove power from MSA and wait for few minutes. Then physically re-seat Controller A before you go for power up again.

Hope this helps!

Re: Cannot Access SAN MSA 2040 through Web Console

How to physically re-seat Controller A ?

Re: Cannot Access SAN MSA 2040 through Web Console

Physically re-seat means just pull out controller from the Controller slot and then again put back in the same slot. Please find the Controller replacement instruction and this may help you to get idea of how to physically re-seat controller,
