HP MSA 2050 Email Notifications !!

I'm trying to set up email notifications on an MSA 2050, and I can't get it working...

Parameters:

SMTP-Server: 173.164.207.108 (it will only allow the IP address of the server, not the name. That is smtp.gmail.com)

Sender domain: our G Suite domain

Sender name: the username of the sender, I'm just putting the bit before the @.

Port: 587

Protocol: TLS

Password: ********

After sending a test email, the following appears in the logs:

Controller A ERROR Email notification failed due to improper configuration. Please verify the sender, sender-password, domain parameters, and server settings.

I suspect it's a proxy issue, as there is no where I can find to enter the proxy settings for our network. However, when I login to the CLI, I can ping the above IP fine.

Has anyone got any experience on setting this up? I didn't expect this to be the bit I got stuck on!
