MSA 1060 pools
Hello
i have one MSA 1060 with 6 SSD sas disks , i am setting 5 disks as raid 5 and one as hotspare,
Is it necessary to divide the pools for this number of disks ( 3 pool A , 3 pool B with no spare ) ?
Also , in case controller A died , Controller B should continue the work with the pool A correctly and i loose no data
correct ?

Re: MSA 1060 pools
Yes your understanding is correct and you can create Virtual Disk group (VDG) with 5 drives in RAID 5. Also you can configure 1 drive as Global spare.
It's not necessary to configure two VDG where 3 drives each per VDG per Pool. It's purely based on your business requirement you can configure.
Please note you are creating VDG with drives and then adding VDG to the Pool.
Regarding Controller failure, yes you are correct that partner controller will take care of the failed controller resources. No data loss. You need to make sure your volumes are presented through both controller Host ports in order to maintain multi-path to avoid any application downtime as well.
Hope this helps!
