Re: HP P2000 G3 hard disks replacemnt
Hi Nidheesh,
RAID 5 can sustain only single hard drive failure.
Could you launch a putty SSH session to both MSAs and execute below command and share command outputs here?
show vdisks
show disks
show disks encl
show system Note: Remove any serial number information from the command outputs before pasting in this forum.

The vdisk is not fault tolerant. Reconstruction cannot start because there is no spare disk available of the proper type and size.
- Replace the failed disk.
- Configure the new disk as a spare so the system can start reconstructing the vdisk.
- To prevent this problem in the future, configure one or more additional disks as spare disks.

Re: HP P2000 G3 hard disks replacemnt
Hi Nidheesh, Its a RAID 5 vdisk created using 12 disks and one of the drives which was part of the vdisk has failed. Currently, there are 11 disks which are part of the RAID 5 vdisk. There are 3 drives in fault state which could have failed earlier. You could replace any of the drives in slots 2.2, 2.27 and 1.2 and configure it as spare so that vdisk reconstruction starts. Please have a back-up of the data before proceeding as errors in any of the working drives could cause reconstruction/vdisk to fail.

Re: HP P2000 G3 hard disks replacemnt
1. We have 4 spare harddisks of same type available . Should I replace all the failed harddisks at a time or one after another?
2. Another issue I noticed is in the web interface when I go for provisioning> manage global spares , none of the disks are listed there. How could I make the replaced hard disk as global spare?
Thanks in advance.

Re: HP P2000 G3 hard disks replacemnt
Hi Nidheesh,
Yes. You may replace the failed disks one by one. Just ensure that vdisk reconstruction has started after replacing first disk and configuring it as spare.

Re: HP P2000 G3 hard disks replacemnt
Thank you very much. Let me try inserting a spare harddisk and hope it will solve the issue. Could you please help me to identify why the disks are not listed under provisioning -> Manage golobal disk in the web interface . How to configure disk as spare without this option. ?
Thanks in advance.

Re: HP P2000 G3 hard disks replacemnt
Hi, Thank you for the help provided. I am yet to try installing the hard disks and rebuilding the array. We are facing some issues in backing up the data also. I will do it next day and update you the result.
