Is this possible, MSA 2050 controller units connect via SAS to MSA 2060 disk enclosure?
Hi, can the MSA 2050 controller units be able to support a connection to the MSA 2060 Disk enclosure? Are they compatible between each other?

Re: Query: Is this possible, MSA 2050 controller units connect via SAS to MSA 2060 disk en
Thank you for providing the MSA 2050 support papers.
What i really would like to know is if i can mix the two differement MSA devices together. MSA 2050 Controller with MSA 2060 Disk enclosure. I already have the MSA 2050 controller units with SFF drives installed, but would like to upgrade the unit to support more disk storage. Since the MSA 2050 disk enclosure unit is EOL can i use MSA 2060 instead with the MSA 2050 controller? Are they compatible with each other?

Re: Is this possible, MSA 2050 controller units connect via SAS to MSA 2060 disk enclosure?
Hi,
MSA 2060 disk enclosures are not listed as compatible with MSA 2050. MSA 2060 disk enclosures come with newer version firmware. Generally MSA disk enclosure IO module firmware is part of controller firmware bundle.

Re: Is this possible, MSA 2050 controller units connect via SAS to MSA 2060 disk enclosure
Will there be any MSA 2050 controller firmware updates current or future that can support MSA 2060 disk enclosure?

Hi,
I dont believe any such firmware update would be released to add compatibility with MSA 2060 disk enclosure.

This is really concerning to hear, Is there anyone that you know who can give a definitive answer?

Re: Is this possible, MSA 2050 controller units connect via SAS to MSA 2060 disk enclosure
I do understand your concern.
MSA G6 series uses a separate hard drive caddy - M2. Older generation MSA hard drives won't fit into MSA G6 series disk enclosures. This is a hardware limitation. Please check with the HPE reseller in your region for any available options
