Hello all,
Did anyone move/migrate MSA 1050 HDDs to MSA 205x?
Are there any complications, considerations Do or Dont's?
I have reviewed the upgrade guide but I'd like to have some "actual" feedback from those who did. https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/Getdocument.aspx?docname=a00015116enw
Thanks,

SolutionHi,
I understand you intend to move MSA 1050 harddisks to MSA 2050.
There is no concern in moving the drives, however, would you like your data to be intact or not ?
a) MSA 1050 current firmware : VE270P002-02
MSA 2050 current firmware : VL270P002-02
Both work on different firmware series, thus, Data being read by two different firmware series without any concern is less likely, still if intended to be tried, this can be tried after ensuring valid backup of data.
b) If Data is not a concern, then Disk can be moved without any concern, if Meta-data is detected, then it need to be cleared before creating new Disk groups.

Re: Migration of MSA 1050 HDD to MSA 205x
Hi Fiberfish,
Thanks for replying.
To be more specific, the existing SAN is an MSA 1050 (1G iSCSI) and the new proposed chassis is the MSA 2052 (10GE iSCSI).
