MSA 2060 and disks

Hello,

I bought the MSA 2060.
I connected disks from the server and the storage does not see them (ex. HPE 5300 PRO 2.5, HPE MODEL: VK001920GXAWN).

Are these disks working in storage? (The diodes on the disks are on.)

The system should tell you if the disks arent comapitble, have your created a raid set and mapped it?

Re: MSA 2060 and disks

The event log should tell you more, if there 3par disks then thats why it wont work more than likely having differant firmware.

its only disk trays. (disk models in 1 post)

Disks are not displayed without a tray.

Re: MSA 2060 and disks

Only this drive works

Will other disks work in 2040 or 2050?

Re: MSA 2060 and disks

Hello  SpectrumReD,

If you installed the VK001920GXAWN HDD from the server into the MSA 2060 - this is not a supported HDD for the MSA. Which is why the storage is not seeing the drive even if the LED (diodes) are on.

You need to buy a supported HDD for the MSA 2060 in order for the storage array to work properly. You can review the various supported drives for the MSA 2060 system using SPOCK: https://h20272.www2.hpe.com/spock/

VK001920GXAWN not a supported HDD for the MSA 2060 or all msa storage?

Re: MSA 2060 and disks

That is not a supported HDD for any MSA array.

VK001920GXAWN is SATA drive. Any of MSA models supports only SAS.

Re: MSA 2060 and disks

@SpectrumReD

HPE MSA 1060 and 2060 storage systems are sold without any transceivers,  these are purchased separately but must be MSA qualified transceivers.
Only drives which are listed in the MSA quickspecs are tested and supported in the MSA.  Using drives which are not listed can lead to limited functionality or future support issues.  For instance, SATA drives are single ported if they could be used in the MSA when a controller went offline for a controller firmware update the data would also go offline.  Also if a drive should have a CRITICAL firmware issue which required an update that would not be possible within the MSA system nor would notification come from the MSA or the MSA online HealthCheck www.hpe.com/storage/MSAHealthCheck  about the issue as the drive is unexpected within the MSA products.
