MSA2060 Single Tier Multiple RAID
I have an MSA2060 storage unit with 24 SSD disks. I need to have both RAID levels (RAID10 , RAID5) on the system .Therefore, I made a disk group with 5 disks (RAID5(4+1) ) and another disk group in pool A with RAID10 (RAID(4+4) ). The same is true on pool B. Both of them are performance tier. My first question is about auto tiering. As far as I know auto tiering happens on differeent tiers and not on the same tier. I think there is no auto tiering in my senario. Is it right?
My second question is about binding the volume to the disk group. When I want to make a volume there is no option to choose the related disk group. I want to put my database VMs on a RAID10 volume and the other virtual machines in RAID5 volume. How can I achieve that?
Thank you

Re: MSA2060 Single Tier Multiple RAID
@Sara_2023
The tiering engine is involved when moving from different tiers but is also used in the "wide striping" in disk-groups on the same tier.
It is not recommended to have different configurations of disk groups in the same tier. This is less important when using SSDs as the SSDs are so fast they mitigate many of the issues of having different performance disk groups in the same tier.
There is no way to 'volume pin' a volume to a tier or disk group. The volume data will spread throughout the pool as determined by the tiering engine with suggestions from the tier affinity setting (only applies when you have multiple tier levels: Performance, Standard and Archive)
The only way to achieve what you are attempting is to create a disk group using RAID 10 on one pool and a disk group of RAID 5 on the other.
Here are a couple of documents which can help with the concepts for MSA Virtual Storage:
Best Practices Guide: https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00115998en_us
MSA Gen6 Virtual Storage Technical Reference: https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00103247enw
You can also model the MSA and get configuration suggestions and expected performance through the MSA Sizer: https://ninjaonline.ext.hpe.com/msa-sizer/
Using the not recommended MANUAL mode you can configure the system based on the hardware you already have to try different scenarios.
