Replace MSA 2062 read cache disks with SED drives
I'm looking for step by step instructions for replacing read cache disks in an MSA 2062.
We are implenting SED drives and want to usilize FDE in the MSA.
The read cache drives rae the original drives and need to be replaced with SED drives.

Re: Replace MSA 2062 read cache disks with SED drives
Don’t forget to update your MSA firmware and management software before swapping in SED drives compatibility is key for full disk encryption to work with the cache.

Re: Replace MSA 2062 read cache disks with SED drives
@O_Fudpucker
The two SSDs included in an MSA 2062 can be used as a READ-CACHE or because the 2062 includes the ADS (Advanced Data Services) license could be a RAID 1 capacity Performance Tier. In either case, if you have data on the system you will want to remove the disk-group through the management interface and then physically remove the drives. If you don't remove the disk-group from the management interface you will at minimum create issues for the next use of those SSDs, and at worst have a support call to gain access to your data again.
If you have data on the system and want to keep the data accessible then you must have capacity for the data to DRAIN out of the SSD tier into another disk-group. Note: DRAIN can take a while, with relatively small SSDs not too long but it's not instant. If the SSDs are in a READ-CACHE this does go quick as there data on them is already on other disk-groups.
If this does not makes sense then please give a little more information about how the system is configured currently: Pools, Disk-groups, volumes, capacity
And we can help you with the next steps.
