Hi,
We have some K2R80A HPE MSA 2040 ES SAN DC SFF Storage and EOSl is ending (May'25)
What can you recomment ro replace them?
They're actually connected to two 719064-B21 HPE DL380 Gen9 8SFF CTO Server (Linux / Linux RedHat EL 8.10 cluster)
~3Tb storage capacity, 10x300Gb SAS 15K HDD.
Thanks,
Joaquin

Re: Replace MSA2040 with?
Hello @JoaquinC ,
You can use MSA 2050/2052.
MSA 2040 supports both linear vdisks and virtual pools but MSA 2050 supports only virtual pools. Please ensure the type of configuration i.e., Linear or Virtual.
Data in place upgrade is not supported from MSA 2040 to MSA 2052 when MSA 2040 has linear vdisks.
You require One 2050/2052 chassis and two 2050/2052 controllers as MSA 2050 supports a different model chassis.
Please refer to this guide for more information.
Thanks,
Sahana S

Re: Replace MSA2040 with?
Hi,
I checked with tech team and we're using Linear pool.
Can be easier if we migrate to 2060?
Or migrate to 2050, buying chassis+2xCtrl+ new drives

Joaquin

SolutionHello @JoaquinC ,
The MSA 2060 family is a hardware departure from the previous generations and no data-in-place upgrades are available. You will need to migrate data to the new 2060 array. Replication is not supported from MSA 2040 linear to 2060 virtual pool, and is only supported between virtual pool of MSA 2040 and MSA 2060.
