Replaced faile disk not added to Disk Group

hi all,

i have a storage msa 2050 with 16*900 GB and 8*1.2TB disks(Sum:24 disks).

in "System" menu show two disk as Global Spare(disk number 16,24).

it have two pool A,B. A have a Disk Group(dgA01) and B(dgB01) have a disk group.

During storge health, dgA01 have 15 disk and dgB01 have 7 disk.

But disk number 13 has been damaged for some time but the disc led were still off.

first i shut down storage and replace a new disk and then I turned on the device.

led of disk 13 were still off but when mouse move on disks of dgA01, they have running task.

After Running task is 100%, disc lamps were still off,

disk 13: status=OK(UP),usage:Avail(?- for other disks is Pool a or b Standard Tire) ,

and disk 13 not added to dgA01.

why?

thanks

@aliahmadpour

I understand disk 13 was part of dgA01, if disk 13 failed sometime back then disk 16 or disk 24 should have kicked in and VDG restore process should have completed long time back.

Your primary concern should be dgA01 and dgB01 health. They show FTOL or not.

If you replace disk 13 with any new same size drive then it should be in AVAIL state only. You need to configure it as Global Spare so that your system level Global spare should show two Global Spares (disk 13 and disk 16 or 24).

Another thing why you shutdown the entire MSA for single drive replacement? then what is the point of having Storage array. Please remember all MSA drives are Hot Swappable means you can replace drives when System is up and running.

Hope this helps!
