Updating firmware for unused drives
Setup:
P2000 G3 with two 10GbE iSCSI msa controllers with three D2700 SAS (AJ914A) attached.
Now, I purchased a hand full of drives to populate the D2700s is there a way to upgrade the firmware on unused / "avail" drives without bringing down the entire enclosure?
This is a production system that is housing VMs and would be quite painful to take all the way down just to update drive firmware. It seems like the controller should be able to update the firmware on a drive while also continuing to service IO requests for other drives.
Here is a link to the specific drive firmware I’m referring to.
