Re: hdd failed on raid5 - LC2000 - led is red
Otherwise, if a single drive has indicated "Failed" either by a RED light or in the NetRAID Assistant, you may want to try removing the drive, wait a minute and replace it. When the drive is replaced, the controller will immediately begin to rebuild the drive's data.
No data is lost.
If you do not have the NetRAID Assistant Software installed, download that also, so you can watch the rebuild process.
If it fails again replace it with a new drive. We have new replacements for a low price.

Re: hdd failed on raid5 - LC2000 - led is red
it does not look very well.
I think on the over 2 drives are media errors so rebuild could not be done to 100% beacuse of missing parity data.
In this situation you are not able to start consistency check which check data structure on fully operating raid. In a degraded status, it is no mor epossible to start check consistency.
In this situation only full backup of data, replacing defective drive and reinitializing of raid should change status.
After reinitializing you nedd to start consistency check to avoid same situation in the future. It is also possible to schedule this task. it is recommendet to check consistency every week.

Adam

Re: hdd failed on raid5 - LC2000 - led is red
You're not finished yet. Usually if a drive gets up to 90% before failing, it is because there is another drive with errors on it. Use either NetRAID Express Tools or NetRAID Assistant to check the properties on all the drives and see which one has errors on it.
Next, down the server and unplug the hard drives from your NetRAID Controller and connect them to the embedded SCSI Controller
Use the SCSI Configuration Utility (by pressing
This will scan through all the sectors on the drive and attempt to correct them. After that's done, connect the drives back to the RAID controller and rebuild the new drive.
Best of luck,
