LH3 RAID question
LH3 with onboard RAID5 with 3 drives and hotswap spare. What is involved in: 1. Bringing up spare as a separate drive/volume. 2. Adding the spare to the exisitng RAID5. Thanks

Re: LH3 RAID question
1. What operating system are you running?
2. Was the RAID 5 configured as a single logical drive? This is with the HP NetRAID utilities (Express Tools or NetRAID Assistant). It has nothing to do with what has been configured using the NOS disk management.

Re: LH3 RAID question
Mark,
Both options you can do directly in the NOS without even downing the server. Use NetRaid Assistant in 2000. Mark the HotSpare drive as failed which will kick it into a Ready State. At which point you can highlight the Ready Drive and highlight the logical drive. Then from the toolbar select Logical Drive-> Change Config-> Add Capacity and OK to add the drive to the array. Your done and the drive will do a rebuild into the array. Then you just need to capture the space in the NOS. To add the drive as a standalone drive Raid 0 just go to configuration and config wizard.
If you don't have the netraid assistant installed you can download it from: http://h20004.www2.hp.com/keeper_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix62473.html
Side Note-->after installing NetRaid Assistant it will tell you that you need to reboot.. just click no to do it later.. No reboot is required to use the program.
Ciao,
Greg
