Hi,
We have attempted to add a Netraid 2m adapter and 2-18 gig drives ( raid 1) to our LH4 server running SCO 505. The server currently has an intergrated netraid adapter configured with 2- 9gig drives ( raid 1) . The additional drives (18 gig) are being added for additional storage and we wish to leave the current drives (9gig) as is in hopes of better disk performance overall. Our problem occurs during the shutdown process. The system hangs during the shutdown with no error indications. During reboot the system hangs as well with the screen indicating the new device that we added. After several resets the system will finally reboot with the new drives intact.
A couple of notes: during the intialization phase of the new drives, it took aprox 4 hours to complete. Is that normal?? A hwconfig -hc reports a vector 11 conflict between the new adapter and the tape drive adapter. We have noted in a HP document that these netraid adapters are capable of sharing IRQs as well as SCO 5.0.5. Is this a problem?? Do the drives installed in the arrays require and termination? The real question of the matter is the LH4 running SCO capable of managing 2 netraid controllers ??

Solution
First off, are the controller and system up to date? Here is the link for the LH4:
http://h20004.www2.hp.com/soar_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix50450en_US.html
And the link for the 2M:
http://h20004.www2.hp.com/soar_rnotes/bsdmatrix/matrix51930en_US.html
Which slot is the card located? I would recommend putting it in slots 2 or 6, as they share resources with the embedded netraid controller.

Re: LH4 and Netraid 2M
Thank you for the quick response and valuable information. We have updated the NetRaid 2m and are in the process of upgrading the firmware on the intergrated Netraid controller. We have noted that the 2m adapter was placed in slot 7, which is a 64 bit slot. The only other 64 bit slot appears to be slot 8. According to all documentation the LH4 supposedly has "Smart IRQ" for easy of installation so placement should not be a factor or should it???? Also on the firmware upgrades how far should we go? More than just the adapters??? Thanks again...

Re: LH4 and Netraid 2M
The resolution was changing the use of vector 11. We set the IRQ via the bios to 10 so that the intergrated and the external NETRAID adapters share the same IRQ. System response correctly now.
