i have an LH6000rU3 with four 900cpu tried to install and configure the server with only one 700cpu and since the server does not start. i only get a black screen an nothing more.
the machine powers up and i can hear the hdd spinning up but no video on the screen even with his original configuration. the funny thing is that although the configuration has changed when entering the System Info Menu on the Display the machine still thinks it has four 900cpu
well i tried a lot of thinks but nothing seems to be working.
any assistance would be appreciated..

Re: LH6000r U3 does not power up
if you change the processor speed you have to tell the system this by setting the configuration switches to the new speed.
I hope you installed the terminator boards for the not installed CPUs.
The system info will change after a complete POST.
And is the 700Mhz CPU is a low voltage one. There are 2,8 Volt and 5V/12V versions out there.

Re: LH6000r U3 does not power up
i did set the switches to 700MHz before powering up the system, but still no video.
i also tried with both 2.8V and 5/12V version but still nothing happens.
the thing is i cannot perform any upgrades or firmware flashes so i'm just walking blind here.
i wonder if there a possibility to damage the system by using the wrong cpu type. i mean instead of 2.8V using 5/12v cpu's
thanks for your response

Re: LH6000r U3 does not power up
Are all Voltage regulators removed except the one needed for the CPU?
Be carefull and have a look on the system-board where the voltage regulators are plugged in. Their position is not one in a row but on the boards the number for the CPUs are printed on.
Is the CPU pluged in position 1 not in any other position?
How many power-supplies are installed?
My machines will not start if I only use 2 of 4 but they are full with drives CPUs and memory.

Re: LH6000r U3 does not power up
i/m trying to boot-up with minimal configuration 2X128mb of ram, 1Xcpu 900mhz, with one vrm (also tried with one 700mhz), using cpu terminator boards on the remaining 5 slots, and 3 power units, everything else like pci cards and hdds have been removed from the machine.
i still cant get beeb errors (even if i remove the memory modules), or any other kind of response from the server except that it powers on with no video.
this thing is getting on my nerves..

Re: LH6000r U3 does not power up
THere are pictures labeling the CPU slots and VRM slots.
You sure you have the single in Slot 1 and the coresponding VRM slot?
THere is also talk of Flashing the BIOS before changing the CPUs, but it seems that that would be for CPU support.
I'll attach it here.
