Netware 4.11 hangs when loading AIC78U2.ham driver
I have a HP Surestore 2/20 Autoloader that does not want to work with my Novell 4.11 system. For some reason when I load the AIC78U2.ham drivers it hangs on the second card. These drivers have been difficult. I use the Adaptec 2940U2W. There are two of these cards in my HP Netserver LXR 8000 server. My netware v4.11 is at Service Pack 8A currently. Any help or hints would be great.

Re: Netware 4.11 hangs when loading AIC78U2.ham driver
Daniel,
Do you hang installing the driver or booting the server during POST on the second Adaptec card? Have you tried going through POST or installing the driver with the 2/20 disconnected from the Adaptec Card to see if you have any different results? Also what Slots do you have your two adaptec cards in? The boot order is PCI slot 1, then Embedded SCSI A,B and then PCI slots 2-10 If you have a netraid card make sure it is ahead of the two adaptec cards in the boot priorty.
Also with the Adaptec card are you talking the HP version of the card, the D5025A which requires an HP driver or the original Adaptec card using the native Novell drivers?

Re: Netware 4.11 hangs when loading AIC78U2.ham driver
Greg,
Here is the data:
The PHX3 Server has 2 of the adaptec cards. Both load succesfully with the library off though. It has a problem with the Robot so it will be repaired Wednesday at the latest.(2/13/02)
The PHX2 Server has 2 of the adaptec cards also.(How can you tell if they are HP?) The first one loads and when the second one does it hangs the server. In fact, I booted it without loading, and the first one is OK but the second hangs the system.
I set up a test server today with Novell on it and plan to hook one of the libraries to it and see what the problem is. I am worried about compatibility at this point and whether Netware 4.11 has the drivers needed. I am wondering about SP9 or perhaps the HAM/DSK driver patch that they suggested. I will test them all.
I did not order this hardware, however I am curious when you say are the HP or original Adaptec cards. What would be the difference? It looks all adaptec to me.
Thanks,
Dan
