I HAVE A RS12 SCSI D8959C
CONNECTED TO A NETRAID 2M
ON A LT6000 SERVER,ON THE CORRECT SLOT(4).
4 DISKS TO O.S.,AND 8 DISKS
ON THE RS12,IF I START THE SERVER THE 1?? TIME,I CHOOSE
ADAPTER 1 (NETRAID 2M),I DO
SCAN, HE SAW ALL THE DISKS,
BUT IF I TURN OFF THE RS12 WAIT A MINUTE THAN TURN ON
AGAIN,DOING THIS WHILE STAING
IN THE CTRL M,IF I DO THE SCAN
AGAIN IT ONLY APPEARS 2 DISKS
I THOUGHT IT WAS OF THE RS12
BUT I CHANGED IL THE PEACES
OF ANOTHER ONE, AND DO THE SAME.THE DISKS ARE 18 GB 15K
SEAGATE WITH HP02.
THE PROBLEM IS THAT WITH 36 GB
DISKS IT DOESN T DO THAT,I CAN DO THE SCAN ANYTIME,BUT
IF ON FIRST BOOT OF THE SERVER
I CREATE THE RAID AND INITIALIZE, I CAN TURN OFF
THE RS12 AND TURN ON AGAIN,WITH THIS HE DO THE SCAN
WITH NO PROBLEMS.
IT IS NORMAL ? NOT DOING THE SCAN IF I TURN OFF THE RS12
AND TURN ON AGAIN AND ONLY DETECT 2 DISKS ?
RS12 FIRMWARE IS 1.05
AND DO THE SAME WITH 18 GB DISKS WITH HP04.

Solution
Any RS12 connected to a server needs to be powered on BEFORE the server is turned on. You usually wait 10-15 after turning on the RS12 unit before turning on the server. What you are trying to do is not supported. At no point can you turn off then on an RS12 and expect it to function correctly, while leaving the server on.
