W2k on LH Pro

I have followed the instructions from the previous messages on this forum to make the install work on my LH Pro, but no luck. I use the floppies and it boots up just fine and then when it is searching for drivers during the install it just freezes.. any ideas for me? Thanks Jake

Jake:
I am sure we can help you solve this, but, we need more info. Can you tell us a bit about the box (i.e., ram, drives, etc.) and then tell us where the install dies. Knowing at what point the install stops will give us a good place to start.
Also, make sure you have the latest bios installed... and the latest drivers in hand. Talk to you soon!

Enjoy!

Re: W2k on LH Pro

Jake,

I found out the hard way that if you are changing the system from using the netraid card to the on board scsi controller you need to recable the way the drives are connected. Inside the case there are two schematics. One describes with the PCI card and one without. Use the one without and then retry. This solved all of my probs with it not being able to find hardware and such.

Re: W2k on LH Pro

Well its a dual 200 with 4 4gb drives and the netraid controller, 256 mb Ram. What I have done is booted off the W2K Server boot disks then made a 2gb Boot partition then made one big partition after that. (I do not try and boot from CD). Now after it copies all the files to the HD I take cd out and reboot, once it reboots i put the cd back in and then it tries and auto decect the device drivers, this is where it install fails, any ideas why?

Re: W2k on LH Pro

What NetRAID card is installed in the LH Pro? The original NetRAID (D4943A), NetRAID-1, and Mylex controllers are not supported under Windows 2000.
Windows 2000 Server is supported by HP on the Netserver LH Pro, but you will need to recable to the integrated SCSI. There are no HP drivers for the LH Pro & 2000 (none are needed).

Re: W2k on LH Pro

Just as a follow up I have got the computer to work. What had happened is I had a modem card that I did not mention in the computer and it was cause the computer to fail. So thank you all for the help.
