Re: HP Serverstorage management software issues.
Exceptions from the HP Storage Server Management service are logged to a file at:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Hewlett-Packard\Storage Server Management\hpss_exc.log
Could you find the exceptions that correspond to these events and post them here?

Re: HP Serverstorage management software issues.
Looking at the eventlog file suggested above gives the following:
Exception logged at: 4/10/2007 7:47:55 AM
corresponding to Event ID 4160
System.Management.ManagementException
Generic failure
Stack Trace:
at System.Management.ManagementException.ThrowWithExtendedInfo(ManagementStatus errorCode)
at System.Management.ManagementObjectCollection.ManagementObjectEnumerator.MoveNext()
at HP.Mmc.Server.Storage.get_LogicalDisks()
----
This is repeated every 2 minutes until a reboot is done. The server is unresponsive over Terminal Services as well during this.

Re: HP Serverstorage management software issues.
If it happens again, could you please try restarting the "Windows Management Instrumentation" service, then restart the "HP Storage Server Management" service and let me know if that fixes it?
Thanks,
David

Re: HP Serverstorage management software issues.
Next time I will try your suggested actions.
I should add that I have installed SP2 on the server and only afterwards (did not know about it) ran the prepare for SP that is available.
The storage server was shipped with R2 and SP1 so I hope that was not as much of a problem.
I have logged this with HP as there also is a warning LED on the MSA30 that is always on despite there are no warnings to Systems Insight Manager or the System Management Homepage.

Re: HP Serverstorage management software issues.
Restarting the Windows Instrument Management service and then the HP storage server did not help.
As we also lose the connectivity to Remote Desktop I suspect something like a memory leak somewhere.
Any help appreciated.
