HPE OEM partnership speeds solution delivery, brings responsive global support
Data networks were originally designed for one purpose: transmitting informationโfiles, voice, video, commands, and others. Security must be added, and in large, complex global networks, this can be difficult to do effectively. Thatโs where Rheinmetall has a solution.
ASSURES REAL-TIME THREAT DETECTION AND RESPONSE:
Rheinmetall developed its security solution for one of the companyโs key customers, Siemens, and is now commercializing the Rheinmetall Security Appliance. Built on HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 servers, the solution performs fine-grained data filtering and processing on traffic passing between millions of endpoints. Rheinmetall uses Aruba ClearPass to automatically detect and classify all the network endpoints, and then applies its proprietary security software to enforce permissions, allowing or denying access based on user roles and other parameters.
The Rheinmetall Security Appliance must perform complex processing, very quickly, to keep network traffic flowing smoothly and securely while automatically blocking any disallowed traffic. In a large, global network, it could take a company several months before even detecting a security breach. Rheinmetall and Aruba ClearPass can do it continuously in real-time.
The zero-trust Rheinmetall Security Appliance stands like a sentry in the middle of an enterprise network, only allowing traffic to pass if it is explicitly permitted by policy. Otherwise, the traffic is blocked. To do this without slowing down legitimate traffic, the appliances use micro-segmentation in concert with user and application awareness to instantly determine what traffic can pass.
Due to the criticality of this solution to Siemens and other customers, reliability and quality of the underlying server platform is paramount. Thatโs a key advantage of being an HPE OEM partner. Through the HPE OEM program, Rheinmetall gets long-lifecycle HPE products with 10 years of spare parts support. This is important because once installed, the security appliance is expected to perform for at least a decade.
Schrรถter says another important advantage of being an HPE OEM partner is global distribution from Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The company also relies on fast response from HPE to service an appliance, which is critical for Rheinmetall to meet customer service-level agreements (SLAs). In addition, Schrรถter appreciates the ability to acquire servers with custom bezels to promote the Rheinmetall brand, as well as have the operating system preinstalled by HPE in factory, to accelerate solution delivery.
Schrรถter concludes, โRheinmetall is operating on the leading edge of network security technology, which is why we put our trust in HPE. As an HPE OEM partner, we can quickly acquire the server platforms needed to meet our technical requirements, with global coverage by HPE, which gives our customers high confidence working with Rheinmetall.โ
