HPE teams up with Continental to improve driver safety & convenience
Traffic congestion is one of the most common urban issues we face every day. Therefore, traffic management has become even more critical in delivering efficient and effective inner-city transportation. Continental, best known for making tires, has revealed a new blockchain-based trading platform for vehicle data to help carmakers monetize data and tie in with emerging traffic warning systems and parking solutions. This could solve some of the toughest traffic problems and improve driversโ experience. Therefore, Continental has partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to launch a new platform for sharing vehicle data & enabling new digital services that improve driver safety and convenience.
HPE and Continental's latest platform will enable car manufacturers and other partners to trade data with each other โ to both improve digital services for their customers as well as to monetize vehicle data. The new platform, based on blockchain technology, will provide data sovereignty, security, transparency, and efficiency to overcome many of the compatibility and bandwidth challenges of sharing vehicle data.
This platform can also be used for data monetization, not just by taking control of the data ourselves, but by giving control to the drivers and car manufacturers. According to Helmut Matschi, Member of the Executive Board, Interior Division, Continental AG, "We are sure that our platform cuts the Gordian knot of data sharing and data privacy. We invite car manufacturers globally to join our platform and collaboratively shape this quickly growing ecosystemโ.
The new platform that was co-designed by HPE Pointnext and Continentalโs Interior division, has received a great response so far. Furthermore, the platform is compliant with the VDA NEVADA Share & Secure concept which was developed by the German automotive industry to govern the secure transmission and transfer of vehicle generated data to third parties.
Learn more about the new data monetization platform in this video from HPE and Continental.
